Open Space: four principles and one law

  • The unconference will be guided by the law and principles of Open Space Technology
  • The four principles are: Whoever comes are the right people. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have happened. Whenever it starts is the right time. When it is over, it is over.
  • The one law of Open Space is called the Law of Two Feet. It says that responsibility for a successful outcome in any Open Space event resides with each participant. If you are not learning or contributing in a given situation, you, and you alone, must take responsibility to use your two feet (or, in this case, your computer), and move to a new place where you can make a difference

Planned sessions and post-its are all located on the live board of the open space.

Go to breakout rooms

Clicking one of the Room buttons below will take you straight into a videoconference space. You will need a decent broadband connection, webcam, headset or headphones and a quiet place to call from. Alternatively you can phone in - details below.

Room buttons will be activated on Saturday Nov 10th, 2018.

Using Zoom

For this event, we will be using Zoom intensively. If you have never used it before, you can create a free account and download Zoom here any time before the Open Space and familiarize yourself with the buttons / options – and check how you look on camera!”

when you first click one of the Room buttons above it will take you through a short set up process and you will be able to create a free account. You will need to install the Zoom software by clicking on ‘yes’ during this process.

You can do this anytime before the Open Space Day and familiarize yourself with the buttons / options – and check how you look on camera!

You can also join by phone, however that will limit your engagement as you'll miss what’s happening on the screen, and people can't see you! If required, however: dial: +44 (0) 20 3695 0088 (or an equivalent number in your country.)

You will then need to type the ‘Meeting ID’ into your handset, then the ’#’ symbol to continue, and ‘#’ again to confirm. Meeting ID is the number that is stated on the Room button above (meeting IDs will be added to buttons on Saturday Nov 10, 2018).

If you need further guidance on joining a Zoom meeting (for instance from a MAC or a tablet), please take a look at this
